One of the first questions that we get about Mercantile Americana is how did we get our name. The truth is that the owner and his wife like to travel. In 2018, they embarked on an 8,000-mile road trip across North America. While many people would have gone crazy stuck in a car for so long, these two embraced it. The owner's wife grabbed her phone and began snapping pictures, stating that she wanted to capture Americana.
On the return trip, the two of them stopped to check out Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. They spent a few days in that area, staying in the head wrangler's cabin at a local quarter horse ranch. The owner had recreated an old west town on the ranch, including the local mercantile. He even kept the mercantile stocked with items for those staying in the cabin.
Six months later, Mercantile Americana was born. Still in awe of everything they experienced on their road trip, the owners adopted the name Mercantile Americana in the hopes that their customers would experience the same joy that they did on their road trip across the continent.
Here is a photo of the original mercantile. :)
